The Democrats Think They Have Won

Let the Koolaid drinking begin!! So the dems take control of the House and by the end of the day they may very well take control of the Senate. While they are celebrating and patting each other the back I’m sure they won’t bother to think that the public doesn’t really want them in power. What really happened was that the public didn’t like what the republicans were doing and their only alternative was a democrat. That is a far cry from actually wanting the democrats in control.

If you think about it, this happened to Kerry in his run for president. People didn’t like Kerry, they just didn’t like Bush and therefore voted for Kerry. Even the democrats now keep saying “The people wanted a new direction”. True, they did, buy they didn’t offer any direction. Hell they didn’t offer anything other than a bunch of finger pointing and blaming. Granted, it got them elected, but now what?

It is a real shame because if the democrats had really come out with a solid agenda they might have done even better. Or just the opposite, if they had really spoken of their real agenda — which no one really knows — they might have lost completely.

Another interesting fact is that while democrats have won a lot of seats, the vast majority of issues that states voted on go against the democrats. Things like illegal immigration, taxes, etc. have all been victories for the conservative side (with the exception of the minimum wage) and the majority of the democrats that did win of the incumbant republican have been moderate to conservative democrats. It just goes to show that the vast majority of Americans still don’t like the hard line democrat policy; instead they just didn’t like the way republicans were running things.
