I found this on IMAO and boy does it explain it precisely. It all too well underscores why we need a The FairTax Book setup.

Suppose everyday, 10 men go to dinner. The bill for all ten comes to $100. If it were paid the way we pay our taxes, the first four men would pay nothing; the fifth would pay $1; the sixth would pay $3; the seventh $7; the eighth $12; the ninth $18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

The 10 men ate dinner in the restaurant every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement until the owner threw them a curve. “Since you are all such good customers,” he said, “I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily meal by $20.” Now dinner for the 10 only costs $80.

The first four are unaffected. They still eat for free. Can you figure out how to divvy up the $20 savings among the remaining six so that everyone gets his fair share? The men realize that $20 divided by 6 is $3.33, but if they subtract that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man the sixth man would end up being paid to eat their meal.

The restaurant owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s bill by roughly the same amount and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

And so the fifth man paid nothing, the sixth pitched in $2, the seventh paid $5, the eighth paid $9, the ninth paid $12, leaving the tenth man with a bill of $52 instead of $59. Outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings. “I only got a dollar out of the $20,” declared the sixth man pointing to the tenth, “and he got $7!” “Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man. I only saved a dollar, too. It’s unfair that he got seven times more than me!” “That’s true,” shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get $7 back when I got only $2? The wealthy get all the breaks.” “Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison. “We didn’t get anything at all. The system exploits the poor.”

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night he didn’t show up for dinner, so the nine sat down and ate without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They were $52 short!

And that, boys and girls and politicians, is how the tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up at the table anymore. There are lots of good restaurants in Switzerland and the Caribbean.

It completely shows what is wrong with people in this country. You are already getting a break and when someone else gets a break who is paying more than their fair share gets a break, you get pissed off. What the hell?

If you make over $50,000 that is, according to Barack Obama. This is really making the rounds, and bears repeating. Over and over and over again.

Yep, you gotta love how politicians split hairs don’t you? The “one” says he won’t raise your taxes unless you make $250,000+. What he isn’t saying is that by eliminating the Bush tax cuts that were “for the rich”, he is increasing taxes on people making at least $50,000. Here it is:

Gotta love this! As seen on PoorAndStupid.

Dear Fellow Business Owners

As a business owner who employs 30 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Obama will be our next president, and that my taxes and fees will go up in a BIG way.

To compensate for these increases, I figure that the Customer will have to see an increase in my fees to them of about 8-10%. I will also have to lay off six of my employees.

This really bothered me as I believe we are family here and didn’t know how to choose who will have to go. So, this is what I did.

I strolled thru the parking lot and found eight Obama bumper stickers on my employees cars. I have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off. I can’t think of another fair way to approach this problem.

If Obama gets elected and congress becomes majority Democrat, we only have to look at Argentina as a case study of what might happen. As an editorial in IBD shows, Argentina is publicizing a lot of private savings to pay for its debts and to “protect” people.

So what happens? You only have to look at what their MERVAL index did recently. On news alone of nationalizing private pensions, the indexed tanked. And that was just on the news.

Take a look:

This is absolutely beautiful!! As seen on PoorAndStupid.com. Here is the excerpt:

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read “Vote Obama, I need the money.” I laughed.

Once in the restaurant my server had on an “Obama 08″ tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference–just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need–the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I’ve decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn, even though the actual recipient deserved money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

I am most definitely going to give this one a try. It is amazing what it takes to show people what these politicians really mean.

One of Obama’s plans to “help” small businesses is to give them a tax break for hiring people. This is by far one of the most ignorant things a politician can say and goes to show that he has no idea how things work.

Seriously, how many businesses does he think are actually going to hire someone just to get a tax credit? So yea, let me hire this individual for $40,000 so I can get a $3,000 tax break. Oh boy. Of course that 40k doesn’t cover insurance (if provided), training, equipment, and costs associated with employing someone.

If I recall correctly John Kerry wanted to do the same thing back in 2004 and I read an article in Investor’s Business Daily that said President Carter did the same thing and it changed nothing. All you are doing is giving a tax break for something that the business is going to do whether or not you provide the tax break. I’m all for giving tax cuts to businesses, but this makes no sense.

Think of it this way: If you go to buy a new car for say, $25,000, and the dealership offers you $30 towards a tank of gas, is that really going to change your buying decision? Are you going to be sitting around one day and see a commercial that says “Buy one of our new cars and we’ll give you $30!” and think “Hot shit! I’m going to buy another car!” ??

If you answered yes, then you deserve to get what Obama is going to give…

The king of American socialist programs, Social Security, is going up 5.8% in 2009. But will it matter? Does it make a difference? Nope.

The typical social security check is a whopping $1,090 in 2008 and it is going up to $1,153. That works out to about $7.21 an hour, a little above minimum wage. And this is supposed to be America’s retirement plan? This just goes to show you that democrats and their socialist ways want to keep you poor and dependent on them. I sure wish we could get rid of this government slush fund all together.

Of course the advocates will say “Look at what happened to the market and people’s IRAs, 401k’s, etc.”. The response? “Well dumb ass, if you are close enough to retirement or actually in retirement you don’t have a lot of your money in stocks. Any half decent financial planner will tell you that. As for the rest of everyone, yea this market sucks, but it will go up. Look at the history.”

If social security was such a great program we wouldn’t need 401k’s, IRA’s, SEP’s and pension plans, now would we?

In an interview with Neil Cavuto, former Hillary Clinton supporter Lynn Forester De Rothchild said:

…he [Obama] is putting a cap on the American dream.
Cavuto: He is saying … and not quite Robin Hood, but he is saying that the rich should give back more to even things up with those who are not. What do you make of that?

De Rothchild: I make of that, that is absolutely a ridiculous, completely horrible perversion of what it means to be an American. This is the place where you come and anything is possible and we don’t need a government that believes that our money is their money. We need a government that is there to be for everyone, to help create jobs. John McCain, Bill Clinton they are pro growth and pro jobs. Bill Clinton created 22 million jobs, not by strangling the rich or strangling business but by encouraging them. This idea of taxing the only the people who make over $250,000 that is going to encompass on day one, it will be the biggest tax increase in decades. 10 million seniors and the tax policy center says that 2/3rds of small businesses.

Here is the interview:

The Conversatism Today blog has a post about Obama’s tax plan as he related it to Bill O’Reilly.

I lightly touched on it here, but the Conversatism Today post covers the Obama quote in more detail. What is also interesting is the lack of charitable contributions made by Obama.

Isn’t it amazing how many democrats are willing to take our money and give it away, but so unwilling to give their own? One thing I loved that Obama said was “Bill, you can afford it.” Are you serious? So just because he can afford it, means he should give it up? Never mind the millions Bill O’Reilly in particular gives away for charity. No, Obama wants to take an additional 50% of his income. Staggering.

This has got to be one of the biggest scams that big O is trying to pull off. He keeps touting his “tax cuts” and they aren’t tax cuts at all. They are tax credits. Not that same thing.

What he also doesn’t say is that 40% of his “95% of Americans” don’t even pay federal taxes. So these happy 40% are going to get a $1000 check from the government even though they don’t pay taxes. Some tax cut.
