With Obama’s recent appointment of Carol Browner as the new energy czar, we can expect some radical changes in energy policy. Why? Well, she is a long time environmentalist and former head of the EPA under Clinton. Her bio:

Administrator of the United States Environmental Protection Agency under President Bill Clinton. Leading the EPA from 1993 to 2001, she was the longest-serving Administrator in the agency’s history. Browner currently serves on the board of several non-profit organisations, including as chair of the National Audubon Society, one of the nation’s oldest environmental organisations, and as a member of the Board of the Directors of the Center for American Progress, the Alliance for Climate Protection and the League of Conservation Voters.

To top it all off, she is a socialist! I would point you to the Socialist International site to see it for real, but the scrubbed it. Imagine that. Thanks to Big G(oogle), you can see it right here.

Combine all three, and there you can expect radical changes.

Alan Colmes, and apparently many others, think they are. Coming from Alan I’m not surprised. He has been and always will be an apologist for the left, always giving the benefit of the doubt to his party while slaming the right for the same things.

However in this particular case I think “over reation” is exactly the right move. When it comes to war you don’t fight an eye for an eye. No, you fight to wipe out. Utterly and completely. If you don’t then the conflict drags on and on and never ends.

Talk to any decent military commander and they will tell you the fastest way to win is overwhelming force. It was the basis for the Iraq war’s “shock and awe” campaign. It was the basis for the ending days of the Gulf War when we destroyed 100’s of retreating military vehicles. You are not out to destroy the people necessarily, you are out to destroy their means of waging war.

Back to Israel. Look at what they are doing, they are going so far as to tell the Palestinians that they are coming. Called people and told them to leave/move/whatever. If the military calls you and says they are going to block up your city block and you don’t move, you’re a fucking idiot. Plain and simple. Not only that, but Israel telegraphed their plan by lining up their military at the border for a couple days before moving forward.

Hamas isn’t entirely stupid though. They knew they would get world wide sympathy for what they are doing, which tells you the state of the world.

While he may not have been the highest bidder, I’ll bet he was the highest bidding black man and thus in most ways the safest pick.

As seen on Dick Morris:

Don’t think that Governor Blagojevich has waived the pay to play requirement for appointment to the Senate seat. NewsMax.com reports that Burris has already donated more than $15,000 to Blago’s campaigns. He’s made his down payment already! And Burris got a big fat state contract in return! His consulting firm was awarded a $300,000 contract from the Illinois State Department of Transportation to locate minority contractors to participate in the state’s affirmative action program to work on road projects. Burris doesn’t have to do a quid pro quo with Blagojovich. He’s got a charge account going!

Well isn’t that nice.

So now Obama has said that he is going to ban all earmarks from the recovery package he is putting together. He was pressed about it and said it repeatedly:

Question: … Earmarks, you said there will be none that get in there without review. Some people would argue even the so-called bridge to nowhere got review, some level of review …

Obama: No, no, no. What I’m saying is – let me repeat what I said about that … We will ban all earmarks in the recovery package. And I describe earmarks as the process by which individual members insert pet projects without review. So what I’m saying is, we’re not having earmarks in the recovery package, period. I was describing what earmarks are.

Question: So there’s – you’re not suggesting there’s some level of review that might …

Obama: I’m saying there are no earmarks in the recovery package. That, that is the position that I’m taking.

You could split hairs like Ed Morrissey does about whether without review means there will be any earmarks or not. That isn’t the point. All congress will do is take what they were going to put in as earmarks and make it part of the official legislation. With no republicans to hold them back why not?

Besides that, the whole thing is practically an earmark. For the unions anyway. 300+ billion payback for the 300+ million they contributed to campaigns.

If this package weren’t going to hurt so much, it would almost be funny.

I forget which talk show she was on, but I remember Nancy Pelosi talking about how much more bipartisan things were going to be now that the democrats were in control. Is this what she meant?

From Connie Hair at Human Events via Gateway Pundit.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to re-write House rules today to ensure that the Republican minority is unable to have any influence on legislation. Pelosi’s proposals are so draconian, and will so polarize the Capitol, that any thought President-elect Obama has of bipartisan cooperation will be rendered impossible before he even takes office.

Pelosi’s rule changes — which may be voted on today — will reverse the fairness rules that were written around Newt Gingrich ’s “Contract with America.”

In reaction, the House Republican leadership is sending a letter today to Pelosi to object to changes to House Rules this week that would bar Republicans from offering alternative bills, amendments to Democrat bills or even the guarantee of open debate accessible by motions to recommit for any piece of legislation during the entire 111th Congress. These procedural abuses, as outlined in the below letter obtained by HUMAN EVENTS, would also include the repeal of six-year limit for committee chairmen and other House Rules reform measures enacted in 1995 as part of the Contract with America.

After decades of Democrat control of the House of Representatives, gross abuses to the legislative process and several high-profile scandals contributed to an overwhelming Republican House Congressional landslide victory in 1994. Reforms to the House Rules as part of the Contract with America were designed to open up to public scrutiny what had become under this decades-long Democrat majority a dangerously secretive House legislative process. The Republican reform of the way the House did business included opening committee meetings to the public and media, making Congress actually subject to federal law, term limits for committee chairmen ending decades-long committee fiefdoms, truth in budgeting, elimination of the committee proxy vote, authorization of a House audit, specific requirements for blanket rules waivers, and guarantees to the then-Democrat minority party to offer amendments to pieces of legislation.

Pelosi’s proposed repeal of decades-long House accountability reforms exposes a tyrannical Democrat leadership poised to assemble legislation in secret, then goose-step it through Congress by the elimination of debate and amendment procedures as part of America’s governing legislative process.

Hopefully the word will spread about her plans and in a couple years the public will oust them like they did in 94.

When you have Hamas supporters in the United States, Florida to be exact, telling the Jews to “Go back to the ovens”, a cease fire will never work, let alone peace.

Never mind the 3,000+ rockets that Hamas has fired into Israel. Nevermind Iran’s backing of Hamas. Speaking of Iran, I thought they said that the holocaust never existed? If so, then to which ovens where they referring to?

You can read more on the Israeli operation against Hamas on PatriotRoom.com.
