In another great Obama statement, he mentioned that you should inflate your tires as a means of saving money at the pump. Is he serious? OK, yes technically properly inflated tires will help, however it will NOT make such a huge impact. To top it off, for a presidential candidate to make such a statement is just plain stupid.

And he keeps saying that McCain is full of gimmicks?

As much as I don’t like Obama, McCain’s new ad is just stupid. I understand the point they are trying to get across, but the ad as a whole just doesn’t make sense and makes McCain look like a jealous old guy.

The McCain camp really needs to get their shit together and start getting the message across. Take Obama’s advice and start focusing on what you are about instead of what Obama isn’t about. While I do agree that they need to highlight some of Obama’s socialist policies, they can do it in a more focused way. Stop saying “is he ready to lead”, everyone knows that. Tell people about his inability to admit when he is wrong (the surge comes to mind). Instead of saying “he doesn’t want more drilling”, tell the people that he doesn’t care that prices are at $4 and that his only answer to the gas price issue to is have a 20 year plan to get off of gas.

Why is it that the republicans are so fucking afraid to said the tough statements? Not that they should stoop down to the democrats level of exploiting people’s fears and spouting nothing but bullshit, but for God’s sake just speak the truth and half the time they could walk all over the democrats.

So the tree huggers and their puppets the democrats don’t want to allow more drilling off the coast. They keep arguing that it won’t help prices now and they are “trying to save the planet” (Nancy Pelosi’s quote). This just goes to show how stupid these people are.

Their false argument is that oil is so high because of speculation. What bullshit. It is high because people know the supply is far too tight and price will rise because of that. The futures markets are there for a reason, to lockin future costs of goods. It doesn’t matter that it takes 2-8 years to bring oil online. The fact that it will be here in the future means the price will come down because there will be more supply. That lowers the price now and these morons don’t get it and even worse don’t care.

Security

The issue if far bigger than just more oil in the supply system. It is a national security issue and the republicans with their horrible PR system can’t get this message across. It took an oil man from Texas to make the statement that we are sending 700 billion a year overseas. How does that strike you?? Do these morons know how many 100’s of thousands are employed due to the oil industry? Do these idiots know how much we use oil OUTSIDE of putting gas in your car? Probably not.

So how does security come into it? The 70’s taught us that being dependent on foreign oil is a bad thing. We didn’t learn that lesson hard enough though. We are more dependent now than then and by countries that are far more hostile. Seriously, if these countries stopped selling to the U.S. we would come to a crawl and chaos would take over. Not a very pretty scenario is it? It doesn’t matter if we reduce our consumption to almost nothing. We should still drill and produce.

They want to hurt you

Yep, I said it. They want you to suffer through high gas prices so you will hate the oil companies and back their decades long ‘plan’ to get off of oil. They keep arguing that it will take 8-10 years for any new drilling to have an impact. But, uh, their plan is going to take 25-30 years if they are lucky. Never mind that they don’t know how the futures markets works and that future supply would bring prices down now. Never mind that on say the west coast their are facilities in place that can bring some oil online fair sooner than they are willing to admit.

The funny thing is this could very well backfire on the democrats and in a big way, as in the chance to win the white house. In the one election cycle where democrats should be stomping all over the republicans, they aren’t. Their approval rating is far worse than the president’s and that is pretty damn shitty.

Drill More

Drill for security. Drill for lower prices. Drill so the blue collar worker can get a nice high wage job. But more importantly drill so I can keep feeding my car gasoline.

Last I checked our government was supposed to be a democracy. While we don’t have a true democracy due to elected officials, it is close enough for this discussion. The underlying principle is voting, and it is this principle which is being violated right now in congress.

The Oil Drilling Debate

What I am referring to specifically is the head democrats, namely Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, etc. are not letting a vote to occur on expanded drilling in the outer continental shelf and Alaska. This very act is outright appalling and undermines the vary nature of what Congress was supposed to be. These morons know they will lose because there are even many democrats that support more drilling and the fact that over 70% of the American public want it.

So instead of losing, they won’t even let it happen. They want to introduce laws to limit speculation in the oil markets which does two things. First it allows even more governmental control over free markets by people who have not a clue as to what they are doing and will set a precedent that will allow them to dip their dirty fingers into other markets in the name of “helping out”. Much like taxes in general they end up hurting everyone in the long run for the sake of looking good.

We’ll forget the stalling of voting on judicial candidates, which the republicans have been guilty of in the past as well. This is far more serious and immediate. Very rarely is the public so in favor of any one thing like they are in favor of more drilling and more domestic production and yet they don’t care. It should be illegal and unconstitutional to stop the very thing that they were elected to do. VOTE.
